ART IN KAYENTA 2014 FESTIVAL INFORMATION
Set against the dramatic panorama of the Red Mountains, Art in Kayenta Festival celebrates its 15th year with incredible Art, Free admission, great Entertainment, a Silent Auction, Art in the Moment & Live Auction, yummy Food and always Fun!
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!!! Click here to be directed to our our website where you can view volunteer opportunities and sign up for something that sparks your interest. Volunteer shifts are 2 - 2.5 hours. Feel free to sign up for more than one slot and invite someone to volunteer with you. It really does take a village to put on an event like this, and we need the help of our community. Besides, it's great fun to Be A Part Of The Art!
More than 60 juried artists representing ceramics, wood, painting, photography, jewelry and textiles will be showcasing their crafts in booths throughout the three day event.
Art in the Moment, a Quick Draw event, will take place Saturday afternoon where professional artists can exhibit their skills and personal creative process under the pressure of a 90 minute window to produce original works of art. Beginning at 2 p.m. with a blank canvas or a lump of clay, artists will paint and sculpt shoulder-to-shoulder in a roped-off area as spectators circle, cheer, photograph and witness the artistic process unfold. The finished pieces will then be sold at a live auction at 4 p.m. This event is a big crowd pleaser, so don't miss out.
Additionally, a Silent Auction with many pieces of artwork will take place during the festival and will be on display in the Kayenta Art Village. Closing of bids and the announcement of winners will take place on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
If you are interested in participating as an Artist or Food Vendor for 2014, sorry, the deadline is past for submitting your application. But there is always next year!
For those of you who have been enjoying our Festival for many years, it's the same festival, in the same beautiful Kayenta red rock location, only bigger and better and with new October dates. In 2013 we bid a fond adieu to the unpredictable February weather (avg. high 59 degrees and wet) and moved the event to coincide with the Huntsman Senior Games and ideal October weather (avg. high 78 degrees and sunny).
During the three days, live entertainment on two stages, food vendors, a coffee house, and a beer and wine garden will provide lively sounds and refreshments to nourish your festive and hungry soul.
Come join us and . . . Be A Part Of The Art!
